"It's not my fault though; my manager gave me unclear requirements and the other team isn't communicating. I'm set up to fail and there's nothing I can do about it."

Sound familiar? That's the telltale refrain of someone stuck in the victim mindset. This pervasive mentality can seep into all levels of an organization, and even extend beyond the workplace into our personal lives. When we're in victim mode, we see ourselves as helpless recipients of unfair circumstances. We feel powerless and put the blame for our problems on everything and everyone but ourselves.
